Mrs. Sybil Moore Merritt of Columbus, Georgia went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 7, 2019. She was 84. Born in Colquitt, Georgia on August 18, 1934, Sybil enjoyed working with Coca-Cola and Blue Cross and Blue Shield where she developed lifelong friendships. She was an avid reader and writer with unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bronnie Brunson and Inez Wolff, her husband C. Ray Moore, her husband Donald W. Merritt, and a son, B. Ray Moore.
Sybil is survived by her brothers, Paul (Brenda) Brunson of Damascus, Georgia and David (Linda) Brunson of Albany, Georgia; a son, Les (Nancy) Moore of Columbus, Georgia; a granddaughter, Amanda (Shederal) Hughes of Columbus, Georgia; and two great-grandsons, Jalan and Devan Hughes, both of Columbus, Georgia. Sybil is also survived by many beloved cousins, three bonus-grandchildren, and eight bonus-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, January 11, 2019 according to Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia with Visitation to follow in the Chapel. A Private Graveside Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery
