Mr. Thweatt, son of the late Kermit Roosevelt Thweatt and Nellie Grace Enfinger Thweatt, was born September 23, 1945 in Columbus, GA. He worked various jobs before he settled into his career at Bell South. Royce really enjoyed collecting docking fees at Lake Oliver Marina, as a young teenager, and became one of his favorite places to hang out in his retirement years. He also worked at Waters Hardware, Columbus Motor Company and Royal Crown Cola Company.
He worked for 42 years at Bell South as a facilitator technician, and served on the Disaster Team, which he greatly enjoyed. When he retired, he continued enjoying his buddies at Bell South, and kept those friendships up to the very end of his life on this earth. Royce attended Hamp Stevens Memorial Methodist Church as a young man, where he met Rose Mary Rodgers, the love of his life, at age 13. Royce and Rosie began dating, when her mother allowed, at age 16, and married December 20, 1963 after graduating high school in June.
He loved people, making friends, fast cars, boats, motorcycles, skiing, jet skiing, side by sides, adventures, and had a zeal for life. He also loved RACING fast cars, boats, motorcycles, jet skis and side by sides, determined that his vehicle would be the fastest one!!
In later years, Royce and Rosie were blessed with grandchildren that he loved and treasured. He remarked all the time, which the best times of his life were spent, taking the grand children to the beach in the summer and going out on the offshore boat where they fished, snorkeled, shelled, swam and boogie boarded. Lake life at the cabin on Lake Harding was a place where his family and friends loved coming to, where many good times were enjoyed.
