Hard to believe that Little Me-Maw is not going to be at Mom’s next time I visit.  As many have stated Me-Maw was in the WAAC and told her “war stories” any time you asked her to.  Though her short-term memory was fading, her memory of that time in her life never did.  Heaven has gained a loving mother, sister, friend, Me-Maw and one heck of a cook.  As I have often joked when someone asked about my Little Me-Maw, I’d say that woman is 5-feet of concrete (except with her grandkids).  Miss you already 
Me-maw.

Tonight the bright light of the greatest generation is a little darker.   

Faye Edwards was an orignal. 

When i first met Walt he joked his mom did in fact wear combat boots..... In reference to a joke of the time. 

When i met her i can remember her constantly trying to force food on me and  talking to her a lot  about the military and how things had changed. 

She probably seemed to you all  like Mom, or MeMaw but she was that AND  a groundbreaking woman in the military - She was  one of  that first group  of women who was not a nurse allowed into the US Army.  She served in a time that the greatest generation left safety behind and saved the world. She  was so quiet about it we almost lost those memories for all time. 

I can remember a few stories and how excited she would be to tell me about  being in Europe, or Japan. 

Thanks for making her part of my life and for getting her to leave behind some recordings of her less ordinary life. 

Rest Easy Faye Edwards may your name be eternal.



Mother gained some notoriety in her later years for being one of the few surviving WWII Rosie the Riveters and a WWII woman's Army veterans who served in Europe and post-war Japan.  Georgia Public Broadcasting (GBP), Kennesaw State University (KSU), and Columbus State University (CSU) all did stories on her and she also participated in some local events focusing on that historic era. To family and friends my deepest sympathy for the loss of your loved one.  Losing a loved one in death is very painful.  May the God of comfort and tender mercies sustain you during this most difficult time. 
(2 Corinthians 1:3,4) May you find comfort in the hope of the resurrection found in the Scripture at John 5:28,29.
