Myra Dean Tucker of Columbus, GA died peacefully Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, December 20, 2024 at Striffler-Hamby with Dr. Jimmy Elder officiating.
Myra was born July 14, 1936 in Gadsden, Alabama, daughter of the late Avis and Onis Alford. She was the youngest daughter of two. She graduated from Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City, Alabama.
Myra was thoughtful and generous, giving to a number of philanthropic organizations. She was a member of the Junior Women’s Club for years and volunteered at the Wynnton Neighborhood Network. She was still active with multiple bridge groups and had a love for collecting angels and bird figurines. She had an unwavering love of her family and friends and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Other than her parents, Myra was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Akin Tucker, whom she married July 7, 1962, her son, Bradley Colt Tucker, and her sister, Sarah Wynelle Carlisle.
Survivors include children, daughter Karen Batson (Dave) of Tampa, FL, son Art Tucker (Janeen) of Hamilton, GA, daughter-in-law Cindy Gray (Steve) of Smiths Station, AL; grandchildren, Jackson Tucker of Pensacola, FL, Emily Batson of Tampa, FL, Caroline Batson of Charleston, SC, Abby Ford (Nathan) of Waverly, WV, Kimberly Dobbins (Vaughn) of Columbus, GA; and six great-grandchildren.
