Myra Nadine “Mama Dean” Anderson, age 70, resident of Cataula, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. Funeral services are scheduled at Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum in Parkhill Cemetery on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, 3:00 PM according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Wildwood Room. Mama Dean was preceded in death by her husband Ray Anderson, a son Reginald Davis Jr, a sister Shirley Merritt, and a granddaughter Crystal George.
Mama Dean is survived by five daughters, Melinda Fuson (Dickie), Easter Frazer (Jeff), Romona Nelson (Joe), all of Cataula, Georgia, Barbara Allen (Bob) of Florida, and Renee Moore (Dale) of Texas; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Anderson, daughter of the late George R. Howard and Muryle Roberts Howard, was born February 23, 1947 in Columbus. She was the former owner of Mama’s Bar, which she operated from 1998 till 2009. Mama Dean as she was known by many, enjoyed many activities including dancing, painting/ceramics, puzzles, shooting pool, and singing karaoke. But had a strong passion towards darts where she was a member of the Dart League and recognized as Dart Champion. She loved spending time with her grandkids and her animals.
