A celebration of Mona’s life will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, January 27, 2023 in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with a reception to follow in the Mill Room.
Mona was born on December 1, 1961 in San Angelo, TX to the late Otho Loyd Crawford and Marion Louise Smith Crawford. Mona attended Brookstone School in Columbus and earned a B.A. in English from CSU and a Master’s in Library Science from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. For several years, Mona served as secretary of the U.U. Fellowship, as well as the recording secretary of their Social Action Committee. In high school track, she proudly threw the disc and put the shot! Mona was a lifelong learner; she listened and appreciated music from all around the world; and periodically Mona enjoyed giving talks at the U.U. Fellowship. She played the flute, piano and viola and was fluent in French.
Mona was a kind, genuine person who truly considered people and their lives. One knew if you were extra special if you received a handmade crocheted afghan. This was her humble lifelong calling: pray for people, love people.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Claire; precious distant Texas relatives and a host of loving friends.
A special mention to Rick Zamarripa for his appreciation and love for Mona in these last years.
Flowers are lovely or if you feel inclined please, make a donation in memory of Mona to your favorite charity.
