Mary Lois Dalton, age 83, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. A visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the St. Elmo room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. A Graveside Celebration of Mary's Life will follow at 1:00 PM in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907.
Mary was born March 6, 1936 in Jacksonville, Florida to her late parents, Dewey and Bernice Sewell. She grew up during hard times and followed the example of her mother as a homemaker. She was Baptist by faith and taught her children to be respectful, have good manners, always try to see both sides, and to be non-judgmental. Mary lived life to the fullest; she was an avid reader, loved working in her flower garden and living on Lake Hardin. Mary will forever be remembered as a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Hilliard Dalton, Sr.; daughter, Diane Dalton; sister, Louise Sewell; sister, Jewel Sewell and brother, Ben Sewell. She is survived by her sons, Tom Hilliard Dalton, Jr. and Richard Dalton; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
