Mrs. Ferguson was born on April 26, 1929 in Jasper, Alabama to the late William Nelson McCullar and Allie Bye Alexander McCullar. She was the loving wife to the late Braxton Bragg Ferguson, Jr.; they would have celebrated 75 years of marriage this past May 2021. Mrs. Ferguson was the matriarch of her huge family. She loved being a mother and was a wise advisor. She was instrumental in teaching all her children and grands the importance of work ethic and independence. She always wanted her children to succeed in their lives and do better than she had. With raising eight children, she was creative and frugal. She was very proud of all her children, grandchildren and great grands. Mrs. Ferguson enjoyed working in her yard and garden. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren lovingly called her “Nanny”, others enjoyed calling her “Big Lou”, although she was very small in stature. She loved to pull together a big meal for her children, and there was always room for any “borrowed” children that showed up. The holidays were an especially good time in the Ferguson household.
She is survived by her: daughter Darlene Ferguson; son Kevin Ferguson (Beth); daughter Colette F. Adamson; son Scot Ferguson (Karen); son Brent Ferguson (Lori); and son Heath Ferguson (Kelly); grandsons: Justin Ferguson, Josh Hammett (Kristin), Jeremy Ferguson, Jerrod Ferguson (Kim), Luke Adamson, Troy Sanchez, Kaleb Ferguson, Benjamin Adamson, Wyatt Ferguson and Waylon Ferguson; granddaughters: Lauren Davis (Brandon), Lindsay Doggett (Ryan), Devan Shaffer (Eric), Jessica Riggs (Eric) and Sierra Jacobson; twenty-two great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. A special loving thanks for years of caring for Louise and Braxton Ferguson from Maralia Nance. You were our angel.
