Kenneth “Butch” Ray Parton, age 71 of Columbus, GA passed away on May 18, 2019. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2018 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, a service will be held at 6:30 during the visitation.
Butch was born on February 16, 1948, in Mooresville, North Carolina; the son of Noble Paul Parton and Julia Pauline Robinson Parton. After graduating high school Butch attended and graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. He joined the U.S. Army and then served in the National Guard for eight years. Butch married Pamela Diane Griffin in 1973, they were married for 45 years; together they had two daughters.
Butch worked for Overnite Transportation, now part of UPS for 26 years. He and Pam were members of Second Baptist Church of Columbus. To know Butch, you would know he loved laughing at his own jokes; you would know he encouraged others to be better and do better for others; and you would know how important it was to be humble and that you could never be to humble. He believed in living life honestly and on his own terms, regardless of what others thought. Butch loved his family, they always came first.
Butch is preceded in death by; his daughter, Heather Belflower; and a sister Phyllis Johnson. Survivors include; his wife Pamela Parton; a daughter Julia Parton; and a grandson, Caleb Belflower.
