Katherine “Kitty” Brown Stevens was born in Giessen, Germany in 1963. Although Kitty grew up an “Army brat” moving often, her family maintained ties to Clarksville, TN which is her maternal family’s “homeplace”. She graduated from Meade High School in Fort Meade, MD in 1981, participating in Track and Field and Theatre: Kitty loved theatre and was very athletic. Kitty was very proud to be a graduate of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville,TN. She graduated from APSU in 1985 with a BA in Business. While at Austin Peay, Kitty was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority, and was elected the Sweetheart of the Eta Xi chapter of Sigma Chi in 1984. Kitty spent the last thirty years of her life making Columbus, GA her home, where her wonderful daughters were born and raised. While a working mom with two young girls, Kitty completed her MA in Human Resources from Troy University in 2003. Kitty worked at a number of companies in the Columbus area and concluded her career at Refresco. She had a strong work ethic and is remembered as a thoughtful and positive colleague. Kitty is remembered by many as a cheerful, hard-working, caring, vivacious person who was quick with a smile and a joke. She was devoted to her girls, her family, and her beloved husband Peter, with whom she shared the last nine years of her life. She will be missed by many.
