Joseph Thomas Kelly Sr.

Joseph Thomas Kelly, Sr., age 81, resident of Cataula, GA., died on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 5-7 p.m.

Mr. Kelly, son of the late Hughie Joseph Kelly and Ruby Walters Kelly, was born September 22, 1930 in Phenix City, AL. He was Baptist by faith and a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country honorably in the Korean Era Conflict.

Mr. Kelly was preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Marlow and Mary Frances Bright; and brother, Johnny Kelly. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edna L. Kelly of Cataula, GA; daughter, Cindy Rankin and her husband Scott of Columbus; son, Joseph T. Kelly, Jr and his wife Vickie of Callahan, FL; three sisters, Dorothy George and her husband Tom of Phenix City, AL Mable Spikes of Phenix City, AL, and Deborah Tamar and her husband Jimmy of Salem, AL; one brother, Douglas Kelly and his wife Pat of Phenix City; five grandchildren, Joey III, Grace, Michael, Hope, and Levi; other relatives and friends.
