Funeral services will be held at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Edgewood Hall, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 11:00AM with interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. Rev. Michael McBride will be officiating services. Family will receive friends on Wednesday morning from 10:00AM to 11:00AM.
Mrs. Smith was born December 5, 1942, in Columbus, GA, the daughter of Jeppie and Nancy Anderson. She was a lifelong resident of Columbus. She met Lonnie, the love of her life, while they both attended Jordan High School, and they were married on January 16, 1959. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary! Mrs. Smith helped start the Lonnie Smith Service Company with her husband in 1973, and she served as secretary for the business up until her retirement, just a few years ago. She did all of this while also raising their five daughters. She loved Elvis, gardening, the beach, and reading. She was a member of the Assemblies of God and attended Solid Rock Church, when she was able.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Jeppie Anderson and Nancy Anderson; brother, Kenneth Anderson; sisters, Juliette Clark and Joyce Harrison; daughter, Jeanine Smith; and baby grandson, David "Cord".
Survivors include her husband, Lonnie Smith; and children, Lisa (Barney) Parrish, Katrina Singleton, Jodi (Brent) Carroll, and Misti (Wayne) Gibson, all of Columbus; grandchildren, Shaun Tabor (Martha), Joshua Parrish, Aubrie Carroll, Reagan Parrish Dorsett (Reynolds), Jenna Carroll, Christopher Gibson, and Jonah Singleton; great-grandchildren, Emilee Parrish, Logan Tabor, Kiersten Tabor, and Cassie Tabor, along with numerous beloved in-laws, nieces, and nephews. She will also be missed by her devoted caregivers, Prisca Orr and Eileen Mitchell, and her beloved cat, Julie.
Mrs. Smith passed away after a lengthy illness. She is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909 or Pat’s Rescue Cats, www.cuddly.com.
