Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Beallwood Baptist Church in Columbus, GA, according to Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Antioch Baptist Church 3789 Seminole Road Richland, GA. With a secondary visitation one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Beallwood Baptist Church in Columbus, GA.
Reverend Spivey was born October 31, 1934 in Pine Level, Alabama to the late Jacob James Spivey and Sara Elizabeth Griswold Spivey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Norene Spivey, a sister, Sara Jean Warren, and a granddaughter, Breanna Catherine McBride. Reverend Spivey was a USDA Inspector, a graduate of Mercer University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, and attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his Master’s in Divinity. He was a member of Beallwood Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge 188, Georgia Baptist Convention, Southern Baptist Convention, and Friendship Baptist Association. He initiated the first Ambulance and Civil Defense service in Webster County. Reverend Spivey served multiple Church’s in Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi.
Survivors include three daughters; Susan (Frank) Johnson, Debrah Ridgley, and Karan Spivey, two sisters; Brenda S. Hall, and Minnie Merle Callicutt, five grandchildren; Joseph (Samantha) Johnson, Molly (Troy) Simonds, Kyle Ridgley, Ashlea Spivey, and Kristin McBride, and one great-granddaughter; Charlee Johnson.
