James Darryl Moye, age 78, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. A visitation for the family and friends of Darryl will be held Monday, June 26, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Columbus, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907, followed by a celebration of Darryl's life at 2:00 PM.
Darryl was born June 13, 1945; the son of Fred Moye and Louise Hutchens Moye. Darryl graduated from Jordan High School before joining the U.S. Navy. While serving our country in Pennsylvania, Darryl met and married the love of his life, Ellen Louise McCreary on May 25, 1968. He continued his education at Kings College in Durham, N.C. earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. Darryl worked at T.S.Y.S. as a Global Procurement Officer for 27 years; he was a free and accepted Master Mason for 16 years; he loved history, especially history regarding British and European Royalty. Darryl was a founding member of Solid Rock Assembly of God. For many years, he was instrumental in the success of their Easter production and services, using his knowledge and skills to enhance the sets and lighting. He loved spending time with his family in Columbus, GA and Goldsboro, NC, as well as with his dog Callie.
Darryl is preceded in death by: his loving wife, Ellen, and his oldest friend Ken Yarrow.
Darryl is loved and survived by his family and friends; Mike and Nancy Joyner Brittany (Kevin) Webb, Lee Joyner, Evan (Kelly) Joyner their children Chase and Levi, Dawn Yarrow, Chris (Katie) Yarrow their children Addie and Will; Jonathan (Kari) Yarrow and their son Grayson, Peter Yarrow; and a dear longtime friend Chris Surles.
