He was born in Durango Colorado on November 16, 1930 to the late Edith Frazier Rhodes and Charles Louis Rhodes. Mr. Rhodes faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a retired Captain, serving during the Vietnam War with two tours of duty. He was a multiple University Graduate and a self-educated man who loved knowledge. Mr. Rhodes was a man with many talents to include: a teacher, real estate broker/agent, engineer, auto mechanic, and humanitarian. Above all he was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is survived by his children: Charles L. Rhodes, II, Travis Rhodes, Ashley Rhodes, and Stewart (Kiana) Rhodes, Susan Rhodes and Steven Rhodes; his grandchildren: Clark Rhodes, Connor Rhodes, Charles L. Rhodes, III, and Nora Burkett; his sister Nelly Rhodes and other family members.
A rosary service will be Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 6:00 PM in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A visitation for family and friends will follow the rosary service until 8:00 PM. A military graveside service will be held on Monday September 27, 2021 at 11:30 AM in the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr. Canton, Georgia 30114.
