Genie Amanda Almon Tew

Genie Amanda Almon Tew, age 83, resident of Columbus, died on March 27, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House. Funeral services scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus on March 31, 2010, 3 p.m. with Reverend Hank Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be David Tew, Danny Tew, Dewey “Christopher” Tew, Andrew J. Stubbs, and Rev. Linton Hawkins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. Mrs. Tew, daughter of the late Earl Turner Almon and Bessie Lou Emmaline Streetman Almon, was born May 17, 1926 in Columbus. She was a seamstress and homemaker. Mrs. Tew was Protestant by faith. She was preceded in death by Huey Delmon Tew. Mrs. Tew is survived by three sons, David K. Tew and his wife Deb of Lawrenceville, GA, Danny R. Tew and his wife Linda of Columbus, and her beloved son and caregiver, Dewey E. “Christopher” Tew of Columbus; two sisters, Annie Lee Curtis and her husband Dave of Bear, DE, Beulah Iddings St. Martin of Abbeville, AL; four grandchildren, Terrie, Misty and her husband Shawn, Kelly and her husband Joey, and Julie; two great-grandchildren, Tara Mae and Joseph Ray; other relatives and friends.
