He was born March 3, 1944, in Worthington, MN to Dick and Nellie Zylstra. He came to Columbus while serving in the United States Army stationed at Ft. Benning. He married Gayle Pearson, March 18, 2006. They share a son, Scott Zylstra, and daughters, Jennifer Jenkins and Debbie Monroe.
Frank enjoyed a career as a Hair Stylist at Kirven’s, Continental Hair, Gayfers, Dillard’s, and Jamison Britt Salon. He enjoyed caring for and rehabilitating many plants he picked from the “hospital rack” at Lowes. He was passionate about his faith and a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. He was a member of 8:31 Ministries, a group of godly men, who are the hands and feet of Jesus. He was a longtime volunteer at the RiverCenter and cut hair for the Shower Program at Open Door Mission for over 30 years.
He loved his family, demonstrated by the number of ballgames, dance recitals, church programs, family trips, and plays he attended. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ronald, a sister Betty, and his previous wife, Kathy Goodman.
Frank is survived by his wife Gayle Zylstra, a son Scott Zylstra, a daughter,
Debbie Monroe (Jimmy), two grandchildren (Kyle, Faith), and a daughter Jennifer Jenkins, a brother Harold Zylstra (Becky), and a sister Dee McCauley (Don). Also, survived by numerous BELOVED nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A memorial luncheon will be held April 16 at 1:00 pm, in the Activities Center of St. Mark United Methodist Church.
