Frances Prescott was a longtime resident of Columbus, Georgia. She was a lifetime educator who taught World History at Jordan Vocational High School from 1970 to 1990. She was actively involved with students in the Mock United Nations and the Competitive Quiz Bowl. She was also selected as a Star Teacher. Frances Prescott was active beyond the classroom with the National Association of Educators and with curriculum development for Muscogee County.
After retirement Frances Prescott traveled extensively and enjoyed time with her family. She was active in the Philonians Study Group. An active member of First Baptist Church since 1973 she also taught the Joy Sunday School Class for over 30 years. Frances Prescott is predeceased by her daughter, Kaye Frances Prescott and her granddaughter, Caitlin Elizabeth Prescott.
Frances Prescott is survived by her daughter Reverend Barbara Prescott-Ezickson, her husband, Reverend Dr. Robert Prescott-Ezickson and granddaughters, Megan and Kristen Prescott-Ezickson. She is also survived by her son, William “Bill” Prescott, his wife, Lisa Prescott, her granddaughter, Sara Prescott and grandson, Matthew Prescott.
Calling hours are scheduled for Friday, April 7, 2017 from 6-8 pm, at Striffler-Hamby 4071 Macon Road Columbus. The memorial service is Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00 am, at the Porter Chapel of First Baptist Church, 212 12th Street, Reverend Jimmy Elder will officiate.
The family requests that in place of flowers donations be made to First Baptist Church or Columbus Hospice.
