Earl Langford Flanagan, 85, of Ellerslie, GA, passed away on August 8, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, August 12, 2013 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd., Columbus. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adam Shaddix, Daniel Bridges, Jason Bridges, Tim Farless, Kyle Senette and Joe Harmon. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM.
Mr. Flanagan was born March 13, 1928, in Tuskegee, AL. He graduated from Waverly Hall High School in Waverly Hall, GA. Mr. Flanagan attended General Motors School in Atlanta for auto mechanics. He was employed by Cliff Averett, Inc. and then opened Earl Flanagan Auto Service, Inc. Mr. Flanagan served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents William Ludie and Susie Langford Flanagan; one brother, William L. Flanagan, Jr. and two sisters, Alton Flanagan and Lorene Thompson; a nephew, Rick Arnette and one great-nephew, Dustin Arnette.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Nadine Adams Flanagan of Ellerslie, GA; a nephew, Neil Adams and his wife, Marie of Ellerslie, GA; nieces, Jan Brown of Lineville, AL and Linda Camp and her husband, Richard of Ellerslie, GA; two step-nephews, Alvin Ward of Crestview, FL and Maurice Ward of Winder, GA; six great-nieces, Brandy Payne, Shana Lehman, Laura Clark, Amanda Shaddix, Tiffany Shaddix, and Stacie Arnette; and one great-nephew, Josh Camp.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church, PO Box 215, Ellerslie, GA 31807.
