A celebration of Dolly’s life will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Revered Watson McKemie and Chaplain Kenneth Wilcox officiating. Interment to follow in Parkhill Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service.
She grew up in Columbus where she was married and had 3 children. Her hobbies were playing the piano and studying the Word of God. She also loved cooking for family and friends. Dolly’s professional years consisted of bookkeeping and working as an optician at Eyewear Unlimited with her daughter Donna Heath and her husband Rusty.
Dolly’s years of Service were at University Avenue Assembly of God as the minister of music where she served for 8 years. Later she served as a Sunday School teacher and pianist at Evangel Temple Assembly of God as well as was the President of the Women’s ministry. In her later years Dolly served at Bethel Tabernacle Assembly of God as the Minister of music and teacher serving alongside her son , Pastor Danny Courtney. Her greatest passion was to share the love of Jesus wherever she went and for all to know the saving Grace of Jesus Christ. Dolly will be greatly missed. Dolly was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Beulah Owens her two brothers, Don and Junior and two grandchildren, Angie Marcum Jantz and Justin Heath.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Danny and Irma Courtney, Denise and Ray Gunn, and Donna and Rusty Heath and her 8 grandchildren; Josh Courtney, Daniel Gunn, Jonathan Heath, Caleb Heath, Jordan Heath, Samuel Heath, Ashley Mathieson and Holly Powers and 12 great grandchildren.
