Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 8, 2022, at 11:00 am in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, with interment and full military honors to follow in Park Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
First Sergeant Bodie, born December 6, 1931 in Waynesboro, Mississippi, was the son of the late Watson David and Pearl Malone Bodie. He entered the US Army on June 25, 1950 and retired in June, 1973. During his 23 years of service, his assignments included 5 stateside tours, 3 tours in Germany, and service in Korea and Vietnam. David’s distinguished military career earned him numerous awards and medals, including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
After retiring from the US Army in 1973, David worked for a security firm, which was later purchased by Wells-Fargo, where he rose to the position of General Manager from which he retired in 1997.
Hobbies included ball-room dancing, playing pool, and watching Westerns with his family.
He is predeceased by his wife, Irene, two sisters, Mary and Betty, his son, James, and his step-son, David Dobson. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia and Judy; one son, David; one step son, Daniel; his grandchildren and great grandchildren; other family members and many friends.
