Clyde E Roberts

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 10:00 AM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby with Pastor Randy Comer officiating. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. Family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby.

Clyde Edwin Roberts was born on August 13, 1935 in Avera, Mississippi to the late Sadie Rae Byrd Roberts and Carl Edwin Roberts. Mr. Roberts was very active, he had two masters’ degrees, and he also taught classes at several colleges to include University of Phoenix, Columbus State University and Columbus Technical College. He had a commercial pilot’s license and ran a flying business in Mississippi. Mr. Roberts was married to Wilma Cockrell Roberts for over 60 years, they have lived in the Columbus area for the last 20 years. He was a member of River of Life Church in Phenix City, Alabama. Mr. Roberts is preceded in death by other than his parents, his sister-in-law, Alma Murphy and brothter-in-law, Bruce Smith.

He leaves his legacy to his loving wife of 60 years, Wilma Cockrell Roberts; sisters, Carla Vowell and Connie Langguth; sister-in-law, Sherry Smith; loving children, Chris (Gail) Roberts and Cheryl Roberts; grandchildren, Charles (Renee) Roberts, Clarke (Amy) Roberts, Somer (Heath) Venable, John Michael Wiggs and Elizabeth Michelle Wright; ten great grandchildren; six nieces and nephews to cherish his loving memory.
