Joy was born in Columbus, Georgia to the late Inez Walker McMillian and Charles E. McMillian. She met the love of her life, Bill Brooks, at church when she was a teenager. They were happily married for over 60 years. Joy was Christian by faith and attended Evangel Church for many years. She was active in her community with the Pioneer Little League as a softball coach and with the Little League World Series. Joy loved her family, she will be greatly missed.
She leaves her loving memory to be cherished by her adoring and dedicated husband: William E. “Bill” Brooks; her son Rodney (Carol) Brooks; her daughter Cheryl Brooks Williams; her very adored grandchildren: Garret N. (Amanda) Brooks, Autumn B. Brooks, Megan E. (Ryan) Burgee, Brandi R. (Vaynil) Gomes, K. Brianna (Jerrell) McClenton, and Chase M. (Casie) Williams, III; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday March 25, 2023 at Evangel Church of Columbus, Georgia. Family will visit with friends before the service beginning at 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow the service in Parkhill Cemetery.
