Christine Grimes Thacker was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 14, 1943, she passed away on February 13, 2024 in Columbus, Georgia at the age of 80. She was the daughter of the late Clara Kallas Grimes and Fred Lee Grimes. Christine was married to the late Army (Ret) 1SGT John L. Thacker in Phenix City, Alabama, so began her life as a military wife. Traveling to the many stations in John’s military career Christine would hold a variety of jobs, her “pocket change” as she would call it. Her true calling would come later in life as she got involved with genealogy. Christine found her passion in helping others, caring for those close to her, and being involved in her community. She never met a stranger.
Her family was her universe; Christine loved spending time traveling and playing cards with her family. She had a true love for God, genealogy, a great deal, and Elvis. Christine gave her family the life values of: respect, kindness, love your family, budgeting, and how to drive. Christine’s values in life will remain in the lives of all who were blessed to have known her.
Christine leaves her loving legacy to be cherished by her daughters: Linda (Jerry) Sumner and Sandy (David) Pate; grandsons: Trint (Beth) Sumner and Brandon Pate; granddaughter, Jennifer Crosen; great-granddaughters: Malia Crosen and Bella Crosen; great-grandsons: Caleb Pate and Dylan Fox; and numerous other family members and great friends.
