June 13, 1937- December 18, 2022
Cathryn D. Smith of Columbus, Georgia went to be with her Lord and
Savior, at home, surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, December 18,
2022. A Memorial Celebration of Cathryn’s Life will be announced at a
later date.
Cathryn was born June 13, 1937 to the late David Benjamin Daniels and
Eula Herndon Daniels in Statenville, Georgia. Cathryn loved people and
the Lord and felt a calling at a very young age to become a Nurse. She
graduated top of her class at Mercer University with a Bachelor degree
in Nursing. She met and married the love of her life Dr. Hilton Smith at
Mercer. Cathryn was dedicated to her Church and her family. She was a
member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church, and a member of the Women’s
Medical Auxiliary. She loved to grow flowers and vegetables in her
garden and share with others. Cathryn was a wonderful Christian, loving
Wife, Mother and Grandmother that dedicated her life to serving the
Lord, her family, and others.
Cathryn is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Hilton
Smith, Sr.; and Brother Hiram Daniels.
She is survived by her two sons, Hilton Eugene Smith, Jr., and Timothy
Andrew Smith; Grandson, Asa Hilton Smith; sisters, Carolyn Howard,
and Patricia Cox; Brother David (Cyndy) Daniels, Jr.; Nieces, Nephews,
other family members and a multitude of friends.
The family would like thank the many Care Givers that have been so
kind to as to work with them in the care of their Mother.
