Columbus, Georgia- C Don "Buddy" Cotton, age 86, resident of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 2 to 3 p.m. Memorial graveside services are scheduled at Parkhill Cemetery on Friday, October 27, 2017, 3:00 p.m. After the service, the family will receive guests at 277 Krogland Rd, Fortson, GA 31808.
Mr. Cotton, son of the late BJ Cotton and Edna Cotton, born April 27, 1931 in Columbus, Georgia. He attended Beallwood Elementary; he then went on to Baker and Jordan High School. After graduating he went to Georgia Southwestern University and LaGrange College. He was married to Lula Cotton for 42 years, until her passing. He served in the Marines and was a 50 year member in the Masons. Some of his interests were spending time with family, being an outside person, working on his trucks, and being a mechanical wizard. He was also very proud of being the owner-operator of his plumbing company, Don Cotton Plumbing, for 60 plus years. Mr. Cotton is survived Don F. Cotton, his favorite son (Cindy), siblings: "Snook" Andrew Cotton, Yvonne Capparelle-Hunsinger (Larry) Patricia Dehner (Mike), David Cotton (Audrey); grandchildren - Amber Downs (Huel), Ashley Anderson (James), Aura Johnson (Bobby Ray), Adam CDon Cotton, Scott Bowers, great grandchildren - Ansley Irions, Matthew Johnson, Logan Johnson, Luke Johnson, Jack Anderson, Mercadies Downs, nieces/nephews - LaDon Hopkins (Mallin), Chris Hopkins (Heather), Lisa Ogletree Scott (Chris), Amber Dehner Renew (Scott), Jeremy Dehner (Allison), Brady Cotton (Jessica), "Pogo" Terry Cotton, Eddie Cotton, "Skeeter" JK Cotton, Pam Cotton Wynn (Cullen), Carol Cotton Donovan (Frank), Cathy Cotton Odell, Cindy Cotton Macon Conner, Jan Cotton Price (Jeff), good friends: Bill, Brenda, Will, & Amy Cliatt, RT Wood, Ray Mobley Sr and Jr., Joann Glisson & son Michael, West GA Plumbing Supply, Wetherington’s & Crew, and many other close friends, too numerous to list; many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by Lula Cotton, (wife), Teresa Marie Cotton (daughter), "Tinker" Benjamin Jerry Cotton (sibling), "Brother" Edward Earl Cotton Sr (sibling), John Ogletree (nephew), Francis Osborne (special friend).
