William Ray Martin

Born to Jessie and Bessie Martin, he was raised in the Olympia community. He was an Army veteran and a Free Mason Olympia Post #325. Mr. Martin worked several careers in insurance sales, printmaking, and the SCDOR from which he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sharing his love of baseball and Nascar with his grandsons. He was an avid reader and outside of his family, his greatest love was music.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Ruth Martin; daughters, Cindy and Melissa (Judson Decell); grandchildren, Jennifer (Robbie Gentry), Amanda, Ashley, Peyton, Judson, Kyle, Donnie, and Desiree; great grandchildren, Wesley and Raiah; brothers, Paul, Tommy, and Mike and sisters, Evelyn, Betty, and Carol. Mr. Martin was loved by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Johnny.

A memorial service will be held April 23 at 1:00 PM at Pacific Lodge, 719 Maryland St., Columbia, SC 29201. Immediately after the service, Mr. Martin will be receiving his Masonic Rites. Any who are not interested in attending this ceremony are welcome to enjoy light refreshments to be provided until after which the family will be ready to receive.
