COLUMBIA - William W. “Bill” Ketchin, Jr., 94, died Thursday, June 18, 2015, after a short illness. A Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2015, in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service at the grave. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Born in Hartville, SC, Mr. Ketchin was the son of the late William W. Ketchin, Sr. and Sallie Beard Ketchin. He served as an Ensign in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II. After returning from the war, he met and married his wife of 58 years, Amelia Brockington. Mr. Ketchin was a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a BS degree in Accounting. Mr. Ketchin was a long time member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, where he served in many roles, including Deacon and Elder. His family is very proud of his record of selfless service to the Baptist Medical Center Personal Touch Program and with Meals on Wheels, each for more than 20 years. Mr. Ketchin worked for Associated Industrial Supply Companies (AIS) and later Commercial Realty Corporation of SC for a combined total of more than 50 years. He is predeceased by his wife, Amelia and sister, Martha Ketchin Gardner of Camden, SC. He is survived by daughters, Ann Ketchin Cribb (Mike) of Walterboro, SC and Jean Ketchin Rice (Spencer) of Lexington, SC and son, William W. Ketchin III of Columbia; grandchildren: Spencer Rice III (Desirae), Will Krakoff and Robert Rice of Columbia and Matthew Cribb (Melissa) of Pawleys Island, SC; great-grandchildren: Hannah Rice of Columbia and Emma, Dylan and Aaron Cribb of Pawleys Island.
