COLUMBIA - **Note** PLEASE NOTE THE SERVICE DATE HAS CHANGED **Note** Funeral service for Sachiko Thompson, 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2015, at Temple Baptist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Ms. Thompson died Thursday, October 1, 2015. Born in Tokyo, Japan, she was the daughter of the late Suzuki Tokuje and Kato Kikuko. Surviving are her daughter, Pamela Baudouin and son, George Swearengin; two grandchildren, Melissa Mack (Jason) and Monica Baudouin all of Columbia; great grandchildren, Chinah Sweet and Ava Grace Hammett; and close friends, Helen Truluck and Machiko. Those who cling to life die, and those who defy death live. Sachiko defied all the odds in life from the moment she was given life. She was independent, honest and a loving person who raised two children, who in turn, blessed her with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was her family’s matriarch and was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She will live on through every heart she has touched.
