Robert Mayer Monts

CHAPIN – Funeral services for Robert Mayer Monts, 83, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2011 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Pineywoods with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Honorary Pallbearers will be his nephews. Pallbearers will be Michael Lindler, Josh Monts, Jamie and Robbie Monts, Chris Meetze and Travis Meetze. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church, 900 Dreher Island Road, Chapin, SC 29036.

Mr. Monts was born November 22, 1927 in Chapin, SC and passed away on Friday, August 12, 2011. He was a son of the late Jim Monts and Mae Harman Monts. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. Mr. Monts was a member of the Blind Class at the VA Hospital. He was also a member of the VFW. He loved fishing and the outdoors. He enjoyed wood working and tinkering with clocks.

Mr. Monts is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margie Lindler Monts of Chapin; sons, Jimmy and wife, Debra Monts and Bobby and wife, Cathy Monts; daughter, Mary Jane and husband, Mike Lindler; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren and sister, Kathrine Koon. Mr. Monts was predeceased by his daughter, Joyce Meetze and sister, Elberta Bickley. The family would like to give a special thanks to Harmony Hospice for their wonderful care. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
