COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Nicholas Ryan Poole, 22, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Forest Lake Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. There will also be a livestream of the service at www.flpc.org/sundays/live-streaming/.
Nicholas passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of Ryan Ennis Poole and Anita Vekaria Poole. Nicholas was a 2018 graduate of A.C. Flora High School, where he played on the 2017 4A state championship baseball team. Nicholas left his lifelong passion for baseball and began playing golf his senior year in high school. Nicholas was an all-region, all state player and finished runner up individually in the 4A state championship that season. Nicholas was awarded a golf scholarship to the University of South Carolina-Aiken and attended as a student athlete.
Nicholas was never at a loss for words and greeted everyone with a smile and usually with a hug. He loved anything to do with the outdoors. He loved his visits with his GA cousins “in the country;” playing cards with his dada and family at the beach; playing any kind of sport that involved a ball, rod, stick, or other equipment. He was always ready with a funny story and shared love with all who met him. He was a member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his mother and father, Ryan E. and Anita V. Poole, brother, Aaron R. Poole (Tobi) and sister, Jenna A. Poole, all of Columbia, SC; paternal grandparents, John and Shirley Poole of Columbia, SC; maternal grandfather, C.R. Vekaria (Anju) of Myrtle Beach, SC; aunt, Pooja Vekaria of New York; uncle, Parul Vekaria (Tina) of England; family friend Ms. Kimmie; many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, coaches; teammates; friends; and his rescue puppy, Ducky. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Saroj Vekaria, and uncle, Rick Poole.
The family wishes to thank our family and friends for their love and support at this incredibly difficult time.
