Michael “Mike” Burton Cordoni, 69, passed away on July 13th, 2024 in Columbia, South Carolina. Born in Dayton, Ohio, Mike was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and a (mostly) proud Gamecock Fan. He was a lifelong salesman, and employed by Great Southern Homes as a realtor. Mike was passionate about his work and took pride in helping families find a place to call home.
Mike could often be found tinkering on a car engine or buying yet another project boat. He was happiest on the lake and loved taking friends and family out on the boat for a sunset cruise. His favorite co-captain was his beloved little dog, Tate. In his later years he took up ballroom dancing, going as far as traveling to Rome, Italy to dance competitively and winning a first place award in his division. When he wasn’t dancing or boating, he could be found playing pinball or out having dinner at one his favorite local restaurants. Mike was a helper, and a friend to many and he will be deeply missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Adrian Lawrence Cordoni; mother, Lenora Jones Cordoni; and stepmother, Dola George Cordoni. He is survived by his wife, Susan Cordoni; sons, Chris Cordoni (Victoria) and John Cordoni; daughter, Leah Erwin (Robb); granddaughter, Harlow Cordoni; siblings Glenda Browning (Bill), Lorie Orzel (Joe), and Joe Cordoni (Angel); step-siblings Debra Trostle (Roger), Donna Rothell (Jerry), Alex George (Wanda), Scott Clark (Patty (deceased)), Steven Clark (Patty); and numerous special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of a service, the family will be hosting a drop-in celebration of life at Craft and Draft Irmo, 7583 St Andrews Road, Irmo SC 29063, on Saturday, July 20th from 11:00 am - Until. We invite you to come share a beer and memories of Mike. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mike’s name to Pawmetto Lifeline, as he was an avid animal lover.
