Meredith York McKee passed away on Thursday February 9, 2023. Born on June 27, 1933 in Chelsea MA, she was the daughter of Leslie H. and Thelma J. York. Meredith was a very active member at Eastminster Presbyterian Church.
She proudly served as an Elder, served fully in the Choir and was a Co-Lead of Small Groups with her dear friend and companion Ernest McCutcheon. Meredith had numerous Leadership positions in Civic Associations that included Garden Clubs, Newcomers Clubs, The Symphony League, Wildewood and Woodcreek Women’s Golf Associations and she served as President of the South Carolina Senior Women’s Golf Association.
Meredith was an avid golfer playing with her Southern friends all over the region and enjoyed many amazing trips to the Dominican Republic with her Northern Friends. She loved being in neighborhood Hand and Foot, Bridge and Mahjong groups. Meredith loved these dear friends, and they loved her. What truly defined Meredith though was her love of her Family. Her Husband Daryl was the true love of her life, and Meredith’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her everything. There were many family trips, reunions at wonderful beaches and countless holiday gatherings that brought Meredith and Daryl such joy.
She is survived by her four Children, Terri Armstrong (Denny) of Aiken SC, Randy McKee (Dena) of Virginia Beach, VA, Brad McKee (Tammy) of Indian Land SC and Jon McKee (Phyllis) of Clemmons, NC as well as 10 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. Meredith is survived by her brothers Edward York (Patsy) of Columbia SC and Gregory York (Rhonda) of Herndon VA, and Sister-in-law Rebecca Moore of Tiverton RI. In addition to her parents Leslie and Thelma York, and Husband Daryl McKee, she was preceded in death by her brother Stephen York.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 26th at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 3200 Trenholm Rd Columbia SC 29204 at 2 pm. The family will receive friends following the service.
