She was born Aug. 23, 1935, in Raleigh, N.C., the daughter of Dr. Rev James McDowell Dick and Elizabeth Young Dick. She was married over 62 years to Frank James "Bubber" Wyman, MD.
Margaret was educated at Broughton High School and Converse College. She went to Charleston to teach school. There she met the love of her life Bubber Wyman. They enjoyed several years raising their young family while Bubber was stationed in Germany Margaret volunteered with the Gray Ladies. As Bubber continued his medical education they lived in Greenville, S.C., Memphis, Tenn., and settled in Columbia, S.C.
Margaret was a loving mother and active in her children's activities including Brownie coordinator, Scouts and the Alter Guild at Trinity. She particularly enjoyed playing tennis, golf, bridge and loved entertaining. She even wrote a guide for hosting parties and weddings. The pamphlets were shared among friends all over South Carolina for many years. She won the President's Cup twice and for two years she was president of the Forest Lake Ladies Golf Association. She was very proud to wear her medallions celebrating her five holes-in-ones. She enjoyed being involved in many social and civic clubs: Forest Lake CC, Columbia Sailing Club, Columbia Garden Club, Candy Tuff Garden Club, The Book Club, Want-to-be's Bridge Club, The National Society of The Colonial Dames in America, several dance clubs and many traveling golf associations. She enjoyed over 20 years of traveling to play golf in the mountains with the same fun group Bubber and Margaret enjoyed traveling the world even though Bubber always said he was happiest in the Greater Trenholm Plaza area.
Grand-Margaret is survived by her sister, Lana Copeland Dick of Clinton, S.C., four children: Elizabeth Young Wyman of Columbia, Frank James Wyman III of Greenville, S.C., James McDowell Dick Wyman (Anne deSales Walker Wyman) of Isle of Palms, S.C., and Anne Maybank Wyman Taylor (William Brian Taylor) of Davidson, N.C., grandchildren: Samuel Francis Crews IV (Mary Margaret Collins), Margaret Weston Fraser Crews (Robert Colmer Baddour), Elizabeth Copeland Crews, Frank James Wyman IV, Dawson Andrew Wyman, Margaret Fraser Wyman, William Brian Taylor Jr, David Maybank Taylor, Olivia Douglas Wyman, James McDowell Wyman, Langhorne Augusta Wyman and great grandchildren: Samuel Francis Crews and Elizabeth Louise Baddour.
There will be a private family graveside service at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 2:00pm. A Reception will be held at Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community,1 Still Hopes Drive, West Columbia, SC Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 3:30pm.
