KNOXVILLE, TENN. - Louise Murphy Rhodes, formerly of Columbia, died Sunday, July 5, 2015, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born August 2, 1962, she was the beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Bryson Murphy, Jr. She graduated from Hammond School, attended Converse College and graduated from the University of South Carolina. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, David Whitlock Rhodes; and brothers, James Bryson Murphy, III of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Harry Myers Murphy (Margaret) of Columbia. She is also survived by nieces, Mary McEwen Murphy, Katherine Madden Murphy and Capers Elliott Murphy; nephews, Harry Myers Murphy, Jr. and Henry James Unger. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2015, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Burial will follow in the family plot at Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Murphy, Jr. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
