Larry Edward Womack

Larry was an athletic standout at Brookland-Cayce High School where he played basketball and baseball. He went on to play both sports at University of South Carolina and, later, baseball with the New York Yankees organization. He recently moved to North Carolina to be closer to his family where he was an active supporter with American Legion NC Post 144 baseball.

He is survived by daughters, Elke Womack Slack (Ted), Ashley Womack Cloninger (Dan) and son, Will Womack (Lynn); granddaughters, Rebekah Cloninger, Emma Cloninger and Mia Slack; brother, Dooley Womack (Janelle); nephews, Chris Womack, Steve Womack and niece, Terri Mecimore.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Al Womack.

A casual gathering of remembrance for Larry will be held from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 3, at Holland Avenue Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 801 12th Street in Cayce. Please dress casually, preferably in South Carolina Gamecock colors and jeans.

The family would like to thank all of Larry’s past friends and teammates for their love and admiration of Larry and the kind words and prayers sent to the family.
