Born in 1934 in Quang Binh, Vietnam. Khiet studied in France and Aviation school in Miami, Florida. After completing his studies, he worked as a flight engineer for Vietnam Airline in South Vietnam. Khiet also worked for FN Manufacturing in Columbia as QC specialist after he came to the United States of America in 1979 and graduated in Mechanical Engineering Associates Degree from Midlands Technical College.
Khiet was long-time member of the St. John Neumann Catholic Church and Vietnamese Catholic Community. He helped teaching religious classes to Vietnamese children.
Khiet is survived by his wife, Lan T. Hong; children, Linh H. Nguyen of Columbia, Khanh Q. Nguyen of Columbia, and Khue D. Nguyen of Columbia; three brothers, Tho Nguyen of Maryland, Thai Nguyen of Pennsylvania, and Bau Nguyen of Ohio; sister, Chau Nguyen of California; two daughters-in-law, Lien H. Le of Virginia, and Kora Nguyen of Columbia; son-in-law, Long Nguyen of Columbia; two granddaughters, Quynh Roberts of Virginia, and Michelle Long of North Carolina; two grandsons-in law, Chris Long of North Carolina, and David Roberts of Virginia; three grandsons, Charlie Nguyen of Alabama, Kirk Nguyen of Columbia, and Khoi Nguyen of South Carolina; granddaughter, Maivi Nguyen of California; two great grandsons; Everett K. Long of North Carolina, and Winfred Roberts of Virginia; great granddaughter, Lillian Frances Page Roberts of Virginia. He was predeceased by his son, Khiem Dinh Nguyen.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Dunbar Funeral Home – Northeast on Wednesday, July 7th from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., following by a Devine Mercy at 7:00 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, July 8th at 9:00 a.m.
