COLUMBIA – Karl Henry Hermann, 83, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014. Born in Hillside, NJ, he was a son of the late Carl and Jennie Kugelman Hermann. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 11:30 at Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home Northeast Chapel. Mr. Hermann was a graduate of Matawan High School in New Jersey. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an aircraft mechanic. He served on the USS Yorktown and in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hermann was a member of Saint David’s Episcopal Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara M. Hermann; sons, Gary B. Hermann and wife Carol of Walterboro, SC and Steven R. Kopec and wife Elizabeth of Hong Kong, China; daughter, Gay L. Kirsch and husband David of Reston, VA; grandchildren, Karl S, Hermann, Karli S. Razak, Sara T. Kirsch; great-grandchild, Aaron Razak; brother, Walter J. Hermann and sister, Carolyn H. Rennie. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Betty Jeane Hermann and sister, Doris J. Chessick.
