Joanna Pettit Turner

COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Joanna Pettit Turner, 81, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Ms. Turner passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022. Born in Lenoir, NC, she was a daughter of the late Harold Odom Pettit and Kathryn Lowe Pettit. A graduate of Columbia College, she was a teacher at Caughman Road Elementary and was awarded Teacher of the Year multiple times. Joanna loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed family dinners and time with friends. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher.

Surviving are her sons, Michael Turner and Cameron Turner (Amanda); daughter, Kathryn Turner; grandchildren, Madison, Grace, Grayson, and Hudson; sister, Sally Ingram (Tommy); loving nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend and sister in Christ, Brenda Tomlin.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Noah.
