COLUMBIA - Joan J. Johnson, 88, of Columbia passed away at home peacefully on September 22, 2017. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Joan was born April 4, 1929 in Batesburg, SC, to Paul E. and Eugenia A. Johnson. She graduated from Winthrop College with a bachelor’s degree in Education, she taught elementary school in Richland School District 1 for over 30 years. Joan enjoyed playing Bridge, dancing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her beloved dogs, Charlotte and Lily. She is predeceased by her husband and love of her life, George Berry Johnson. She is survived by her daughter, J. Caroline Johnson McKee (Roger), a son, G.B. Johnson (Michelle), a brother, Paul E. Johnson, Jr. and other loving family members, who she loved dearly.
