James Ryan Lewis, 45, born on July 10, 1979 in Columbia, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024 in West Columbia. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose kindness and compassion touched the lives of everyone he met.
Ryan is survived by his father, Rick Lewis, and stepmother, Theresa Lewis; his sisters, Lyndsay (Andrew) King and Ashleigh Poston; his brothers, Jameson Lewis and Kyle Raines; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored him deeply. He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Poston.
Known for his generous spirit, Ryan had an innate ability to make those around him feel valued. He would often go out of his way to lend a helping hand or simply check in with a phone call just to see how someone was doing. His warmth radiated through every interaction, whether it was offering the shirt off his back or sharing laughter with friends.
Ryan's love for animals shone brightly through his bond with Peanut, his cherished dog who brought him immense joy. Together they shared countless adventures that reflected Ryan’s playful nature and zest for life.
His friendships were deep-rooted treasures that enriched both their lives and the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. Whether it was gathering for celebrations or quiet moments spent together reminiscing about old times, Ryan's presence always made these occasions more special.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date where family and friends can come together to honor and celebrate him. In remembering Ryan Lewis—a kind soul taken too soon—we are reminded of the importance of connection: checking in on one another regularly because we never know when a simple act might brighten someone's day.
He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered for the light he brought into our lives.
