Born in Charleston, SC on October 1, 1945, he was a son of Jean Mustard Weldon and the late Hugh Wilson Weldon, Sr. Skip moved to Columbia, SC during his high school years where he made lifelong friends and was a member of the Esquires at Dreher High School. He was a stand out athlete in 2 sports while in high school. In 1967, he graduated from Presbyterian College where he met and later married Ann Harwell. Skip was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. He was awarded the Silver Star for "Gallantry in Action" while serving as an Army Infantry Officer during the Vietnam War. From 1969 to 1982, he worked for Equitable Life Assurance Society. In 1982 he started his own private practice as a fee only financial consultant, retiring in 2011. In retirement, he and Ann traveled the world.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ann Harwell Weldon; mother Jean Mustard Weldon; brothers Allan Mustard Weldon (Norma) and Richard Moore Weldon (Lynne); and his beloved dog, Bolt.
Skip loved dogs all his life so, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Pawmetto Life Line Animal Shelter or the Humane Society of Richland County.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2022 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Interment with full military honors will be held in Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a later date.
