Ms. Dorothy Mae Moore

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Park Street Baptist Church with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday evening at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.

Miss Moore was born in Columbia on April 22, 1924, to James Cleveland and Lillie Mae McCallister Moore. She attended Columbia city schools and graduated from Columbia High School. She retired from Western Union after more than forty years. She was a nearly life long faithful member of Park Street Baptist Church where she enjoyed Sunday School, Bible Studies, Keenagers, traveling and bowling. She was a loving and devoted aunt and a beloved and caring friend to nearly everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents she is predeceased by a sister, Margaret Reid Moore, and a brother, Jean Heyward Moore and two sisters-in-law, Catherine Causey Moore and Margie Laney Moore.

Survivors include her nieces, Susan Moore Wight (Bill) and Jeanie Moore Yelton (Michael), great nieces Megan Yelton-Orr (Tyler) and Catherine Yelton (Chris Elliott), and great-great nephews Aiden Yelton and Eli Elliott, and great-great niece Eisley Mae Elliott.

The family wished to extend special thanks to those who cared for her like family at NHC Parklane, the caring staff at Providence Hospital and Hospice Care of South Carolina and her devoted Church Family.
