Dale William Campbell

Dale was born in Pitcairn, PA to the late James William Campbell and Emma (Webber) Campbell. He was the youngest of four siblings. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, James Campbell and Donald Campbell, and his sister, June Houck.

Dale served in the U.S. Army and afterwards he worked for Westinghouse for 38 years. He was given assignments to nuclear facilities in Saluggia, Italy and Brussels, Belgium. Dale and his family moved to Columbia, SC in 1969 for the opening of the Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel Division Plant (now Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility) in Hopkins where he worked as a Quality Control Supervisor until he retired.

Dale enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything although watching the Pittsburgh Steelers was a close second. He also enjoyed swimming in his pool, fixing things, working in his yard. Dale was always a happy, positive person and had a great sense of humor. His children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews were often the recipients of his playful humor, which everyone enjoyed. As a father, he had a great ability to listen to both sides of a situation and offer impartial advice, a trait that was greatly valued by his children. Dale, Dad, Grandpa will be missed by his family and friends. He was loved by all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Susanna Elizeus Campbell; his children, Daniel John Campbell (Annette) of Evans, GA, Debra Marie Campbell (Britt Reid) of Tacoma, WA and Diane Emma Campbell (Chris Havekost) of Denver, CO; five grandchildren, Andrew Campbell (Natalie), Scott Campbell (Ashley), Meredith Tolleson (Nick Smith), Spencer Tolleson, Paige Tolleson; one great-grandchild, Luke Campbell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held for Mr. Campbell at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2021 in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
