COLUMBIA Funeral service for Cynthia Miller Roach, 88, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at North Trenholm Baptist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park Serenity Gardens. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Roach died Monday, June 30, 2014. Born in Savannah, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Edward Harris Parsons Miller Sr. and Connie Ruth McGrady Miller. She moved to Blythewood early in her life. A graduate of Columbia College, she was employed with Hopkins Miller and Kennedy Real Estate, a firm owned by her father. In 1949, she married Harold Lloyd Roach Sr. A wonderful cook known for her macaroni and cheese, she loved doing for her family and her church, North Trenholm Baptist. As the matriarch of her family, she was involved in all of her children’s athletic careers.
Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her sons, Hal and Stan Roach, both of the home; known as “MaMa” to her grandchildren, Ashleigh Taylor (Zak) of Columbia, Andrea Westmoreland (Tripp) of Gilbert; four great-grandchildren, Shane, Jaden, Chloe, Fiona: sisters-in-law, Becky Miller and Nell Roach; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold L. Roach Sr. and brothers, Edward H. P. Miller Jr. and Joseph Miller.
