COLUMBIA Christine Eastwood, age 106, has peacefully, and in her own indomitable way, departed us. Her remarkable spirit, never dulled, will always remain with those who knew and loved her.
Born Mary Christine Schafer on June 14, 1909 in Philomont, Virginia to Alice and Corneilius Schafer, she lived a long and fulfilling life amongst her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, LaVerne, her partner in life. Her wish was to rest next to his side into eternity. She will join him and her mother and sisters, Gloria, Joanne and Polly on a shady hillside in Maryland.
She is survived by her loving niece and nephew, Douglas and Christine. We will cherish and hold her in our hearts forever. Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone that cared about and for her during the 40 years Columbia was her home.
