COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Charles Arthur Pettit, 73, will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Rosewood Baptist Church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Pettit died Wednesday, January 6, 2016. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Basil Green Lee Pettit and Lillian Louise Ridgeway Pettit. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years on the USS Sam Rayburn. Mr. Pettit was Owner and Broker in Charge of the Pettit Company which his father began in 1975. He was a member of the Columbia Jaycees, serving as past president and senator, and co-founder of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Five Points. Surviving are his brother, Nicholas L. Pettit (Diane) of Raleigh, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Louise Willis.
