Betty Simpkins Young

She is survived by her daughter Whitney Young, son Gary Young, sister Doris Simpkins, brother Calvin Simpkins, brother Michael Felder and grandchildren Faith Young, Malachi Sumter and Jordan young. She was predeceased by her parents Bertha Howard and Mike Simpkins, and siblings Andrew L. James, Hattie, Johnny, Morris, Oscar, and Lewis Simpkins.

Betty graduated from Bishopville high school in 1972. She was a member of the honors society, played on the basketball team, and was miss homecoming her senior year. After she graduated, Betty moved to Florida where she was regarded as one of the most popular employees at the luxury Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach Florida. She shared some of her fondest memories while living it up in Florida in the 70's. She moved back to South Carolina in the 80's where she married and had two children with her late ex-husband Ausbun Young. She enjoyed the life she lived and left with no regrets. She will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.
