Robert W. “Bob” Peavy, of Laurel, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 12, 2024 at the age of 92. He was born in Lawrence County, Mississippi to Julius and Gertrude Peavy and has lived and worked in most states and all over the world during his work experience. Mr. Peavy was an industrial electrician who began his career at the age of seventeen and worked his way up to a general superintendent, finally retiring after fifty-five years. He had the distinction of being a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for seventy-four years. Mr. Peavy loved being outdoors hunting and fishing. He was witty with a great sense of humor. He was a gifted musician who sang and played the guitar and especially loved gospel music. Mr. Peavy was a man of deep faith. He was an evangelist associated with the Church of God faith during his world wide travels. Known to give anyone a second chance, Mr. Peavy will be remembered as an honorable and forgiving man who showed love and respect to everyone with whom he came in contact .
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Calhoun; a grandson, Christopher Peavy; and a great-grandson, Braxton Lott. Mr. Peavy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Anna Peavy; two daughters, Deborah Peavy and Christina Collins (Matt); a son, Dr. David Peavy (Jan); seven grandchildren, Doneada Stevens, Bridgette Lott (Pete), Sarah Peavy, Angie Peavy, Mike Dykes, Patrick Collins, and Jack Collins; and many great and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Mr. Peavy will be at Colonial Funeral Home on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:00am. Friends may visit with the family from 9:00am until service time. He will be laid to rest in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello, Mississippi. The graveside committal service will be at 2:00pm.
