Martha Hammond Walters, of Columbia, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019, at the age of 89. Martha was one of eight children born in Waldorf, Germany. She came to the United States after marrying Harold Hammond who was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Air Force and has been a resident of Marion County since 1949. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Hammond and Louis Walters. Martha is survived by two daughters, Sharon Bayard and her husband, Dale and Vickie Hammond; two sons, Bill Hammond and his wife, Faye and Wendell Hammond and Sharon; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
